After a five-day trial, a Salt Lake jury today returned a wrongful death verdict of $125,000 in the matter of Rashauna Kirkland v. Harmony Home Health, #140901757 (Third District Court for Salt Lake County, Salt Lake Division, Hon. Keith Kelly)

In its Special Verdict, the jury awarded $75,000 to the Estate of Nedra Kirkland on the survival action ($30,000 for non-economic damages, and $45,000 in medical bills) as well as $50,000 to a surviving daughter, Rashauna Kirkland.
However, the jury also found a non-party, LabCorp, to be at 30% fault, meaning that the net recoverable award will be around $87,500, plus prejudgment interest on the medical bills.
