Writing from the wilds of Eastern Washington, I learned that congratulations are in order for David and Scott Epperson for the successful defense of a Salt Lake City medical malpractice claim brought by Reagan Johnson and Lance Johnson against Ross Dastrup, MD, an emergency room physician.
It is my understanding that the jury returned a verdict after a short deliberation finding that “Dr. Dastrup was at fault by clear and convincing evidence[,]” but that his fault was not the cause of Reagan Johnson’s injuries.
The complaint alleged that Dr. Dastrup discharged Ms. Johnson from Lone Peak Hospital E.R. without recognizing that her colon/bowel was likely to perforate imminently due to a bowel obstruction/constipation.
