There has been a settlement in the wrongful death case of Eric Anderson Heirs v. Utah State University. The case was set for trial starting next week, but I have learned that it has just settled today for an undisclosed amount by USU and plaintiffs.
You may recall that Eric Anderson, a 24-year old USU student, was tragically killed in August 2013 when he hit a “slackline” while riding his bike on the USU campus in Logan. (A “slackline,” for us older folks, is flat webbing stretched between anchor points over which people try to balance.) This slackline had been set between trees on the Old Main Hill through which Eric came riding downhill on his bike. News stories from 2013 are here and here.
Trial had been set to start a week from today in Salt Lake.
